Do I need a Lefort 1, BSSO, or palate widening?
Surgery for bimaxillary protrusion
Jan 4, 2019
Hi, It is difficult to say without a complete evaluation of your facial skeleton ( Panorex and full dental records as will as dental photographs), but you appear to have a bimaxillary protrusion. This can be corrected by two jaw setback surgery. You would need a full evaluation and likely need pre and postop orthodontics.
Vaser Lipo or Smart Lipo: which is better for my arms?
Arm Liposuction
Jul 2, 2017
For almost all of my patients seeking arm rejuvenation, I recommend VASER. Smart lipo, worked better than traditional lipo because of the heating in the superficial plane. Vaser however takes advantage of all three methods of skin retraction and is the only technique that is safe to do all the way up to the superficial plane with no burns or thermal injury and leaves all of the septi nerves and blood vessels intact to allow your own skin contraction to occur.
I know it's not 100% but does EVLT really work for spider veins?
EVLT and spider veins
Jul 2, 2017
Dilated painful varicosities and smaller spider veins are often the results of significant GSV reflux. If you, your doctor and the insurance agree that you are having significant symptoms from your GSV reflux, then they may pay for treatment to correct this. These treatments will stop or prevent spider veins. If they are already present, consider sclerotherapy or laser treatement for them. Since they are usually cosmetic (unless there is a wound or impending wound) their...
Slim Lipo vs. Cool Sculpting for Belly Fat and Love Handles?
Lipo vs Non invasive fat removal
Apr 18, 2017
As a board certified plastic surgeon. I am one of the doctors that offers many ways to get the shape you desire. I offer the newest coolsculpt with all of the available handpieces in the office as well as all in operating room options for patients body contouring needs. I also offer in office VASER for patients that are candidates for in office liposuction. Vaser is a vast improvement over other energy based liposuction in that it offers tightening as well as...
I got CoolSculpting done 2 days ago and my belly is very swollen (I look pregnant) and very
Redness and swollen
Apr 18, 2017
This is a typical response to coolsculpting. The technician should have vigorously massaged the area right after the applicator came off. This is swelling and response to the cool placed on the area. Please follow up with your coolsculpt doctor if you have any concerns. The redness and swelling should subside over the following few days and from then on all you have to do is wait a few months for the results.
How close to goal weight should I be for tummy tuck consultation?
Guidelines for weight and tummy tuck surgery
Nov 8, 2016
Every surgeon has his own criteria. BMI is a big decider for me. Patients need to be in the range of 33 before anesthesia will consider them safe for cosmetic surgery. If they are above this BMI, surgery really needs to be postponed unless there is a clear medical reason for it.
4 days post-op, tummy tuck with drains. I think I have a seroma. How does this happen? Does
Seroma
Nov 8, 2016
Reasons for seromas are varied. Early seromas are due to small amounts of blood attracting fluid into the space between the abdominal wall and the overlying flap. These are prevented through drain placement and vigorous garment use. Late seromas are usually due to early active twisting and flexion at the hip prior to the flaps sealing completely. They are both uncommon in my practice, but can occur. Please contact your surgeon ASAP! Seromas are much...
Saggy eyelids
Young patient saggy eyelids
Aug 23, 2016
Most patients that have saggy eyelids at your age are due to periodic swelling and rubbing of the eyes. If the swelling and rubbing can be eliminated, for the most part, the eyelids will come back to their normal state. Some patients have an inherent negative vector or shallow midface which will make any swelling in the eyelids more apparent. Only a consultation with a facial plastics or experienced plastic surgeon can tell you if there are surgical conditions that may be...
Is a TT out of the questions since I've had prior abdominal surgery?
Unfortunate news
Jun 28, 2016
Bad news.  Upper abdominal incisions make you a very poor candidate for further tummy tuck surgery.  Good news is that the contour on your lower abdomen is actually ok.   You would benefit from liposuction.  You are a candidate for a reverse tummy tuck where the scar is brought up to underneath the breasts.  After a reverse and liposuction. If you had additional skin down below, you could get a mini tuck .  Call or make an appointment if you would like to discuss things further
I'm thinking about a BA, but I don't know what size or shape I should get. What do you recommend?
What size/shape
Jun 28, 2016
It's important to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.  As far as shape/size/position,  these are questions that's should be discussed in the preop consultations. Your goals and the plastic surgeons ability combined with his vision for your outcome should guide you in your decision making.  In my practice I use the Vectra Xl system so that I can effectively communicate what a patient will look like with different implants from different manufactures as well as di...
Advice appreciated regarding Rhinoplasty; does Blue Cross Blue Shield cover it?
Insurance for rhinoplasty alone
Jun 15, 2016
Hi.  Your question focused on your desire for rhinoplasty.  In my opinion, desire for rhinoplasty typically constitutes cosmetic type procedure.  If you had reasons for nasal obstruction that were directly related to collapse or instability of your external nose, that would possibly be covered by insurance.  Typically the bolstering of the cartilages and the reshaping of the obstructed part of the nose is what is covered.  If patients come in to describe their desired nose, that as well cons...
To tuck or not to tuck? Tuck or mini tuck? What are my options? I need your advice!
Tummy
May 12, 2016
Hi,Congratulation on the three children.  Also congrats on making time to exercise and being fit.  This makes a huge difference in the recover you have after a tummy tuck. By looking at your pictures, I would recommend a modification of the classic tummy tuck for you.  I would recommend a full tummy tuck, but I don't believe all of the skin will be able to be removed between your umbilicus and below your c-section scar.  Rather than placing your scar higher (which is a no-no for bathing sui...
Do I need a full or mini tummy tuck?
Tummy tuck
May 12, 2016
You are a great candidate for a full muscle placation and a full tummy tuck.  If you notice you list your back to show a tighter upper abdomen.  Your skin needs significant tightening and the muscle repair may even help you have better posture and less low back strain.
3 months post op - is this capsular contracture? Help!
Capsule Contracture
May 12, 2016
Hi,If your breast are soft and non painful, they do not have capsule contracture.  The Implants are a bit high.  You may have had a slight bit of ptosis that needed correcting with a dual plane technique.  IF this was not performed, the possibility that the implants may need to be repositioned is not out of the question.
Leg swelling after TT; is this normal?
Leg swelling after TT
May 5, 2016
This is relatively common.   The garment and the immobility mixed with some disruption of lymphatics can cause it.  Discuss it with your plastic surgeon is need be, garments may be worn on the legs as well.  As long as it isn't just in one leg, this likely doesn't represent anything pathologic.
