Dear Impearson - Thank you for your question. In the US the FDA has performed extreme vetting of saline and silicone breast implants to ensure their safety. There has been no association between saline implants, which are silicone shells filled with salt water, and solid organ cancers. Saline is also used to hydrate patients through an intravenous line and is not associated with cancers. Hugh44 - Thank you for your question and sorry to hear you got bumped in the nose so soon after your rhinoplasty surgery. The cartilage of the tip is very malleable and able to withstand a decent amount of blunt trauma. You may have developed some increased swelling but it would be reasonable to follow up with your surgeon to have him/her to assess whether the cartilages supporting the tip rotation have been shifted in anyway. Warm regards, Mark Schoemann MD, FACS

Thank you for your question AGDO - Swelling after a facelift can be extremely frustrating for patients as they want to get back to their lives after surgery. Depending on how aggressive the facelift technique was the swelling can take up to 6 to 8 months to resolve completely. In our practice we stress that the patient should not drive while taking any narcotic pain medicine. Thank you for your question. The length of time it takes for the swelling to resolve is one of the most frustrating aspects of rhinoplasty for patients (and also the surgeons). Swelling and edema decreases rapidly in the first several weeks and then there is a residual amount that can take 6-8 months to resolve completely. It often depends on the amount of tip work (suturing/grafts) as well as the thickness of the nasal skin. You will see a difference from month to month but probably not on ...

A tummy tuck is a major surgical procedure and will require care and recovery.  There are several post op care nursing companies that will pick you up from your surgery, take care of you in the comfort of your own home, and bring you to your first post operative appointment.  Most patients will require assistance for the first few days. I suggest calling your plastic surgeon to get the details of recovery and ask about nursing care.

Thank you for your question. It is typical that patients notice more swelling the morning after injections due to sleeping prone.. You should have noticed that as the day progressed, the swelling went down. At our practice we recommend that patients ice and sleep elevated the first night. I would recommend following up with your surgeon in about a month so the two of you can decide if more volume is needed.

Thank you for your question. You are right that the decision is huge and educating yourself with the correct procedures as well as risks and recovery is very important. Having 5 children you will need to know what the limitations will be the first few weeks. I do agree that a tummy tuck, liposuction, and  breast surgery will be needed to achieve best results. A lift would be required to give you optimum results. Talking to a board certified surgeon will help you address your concerns.

There are many types of flex spending accounts and health savings accounts and each plan has it's own guidelines. Typically cosmetic procedures are excluded and the accounts are for medically necessary procedures. Our patients will use them for upper eyelid surgery as well as breast reduction and scar revisions.   I would check with your FSA plan to see what the guidelines are for your individual account.

Hi CoffeeLover77, thank you for the question. It is difficult to tell the degree of jowling in the picture due to you smiling. A frontal picture, side profile, and quarter side without smiling would be best to determine the severity of jowling. A  jowl is an excess of subcutaneous fat that overhangs the jaw line.
