Strange bruising/skin darkening, hardening and flaking after breast surgery/mastopexy 4 months post-op. (p
By Dr Alex Kim
Jan 24, 2019
Looking at your photos, it seems like you have a hematoma under the skin. I recommend you to see a doctor as soon as possible. You will most likely not need surgery, but if it is a hematoma, you will have to drain it.
Will my nostrils even out (up and down) after the swelling has gone down after rhinoplasty?
By Dr Alex Kim
Jan 15, 2019
From looking at your photos, you do have asymmetry of the front part of the nostril. As swelling goes down, the angle of the opening may increase, making it look more symmetric. At this point, I would recommend continued observation and see your plastic surgeon 3-6 months from now.
I want to know how she got the shape of her eyes like that. I have small eyes and want them to look bigger
Dr Alex Kim
Jan 15, 2019
It is a combination of a brow lift and upper blepharoplasty. I do not think she got fillers. Thank you for your question, I hope I answered your question!
Soft spot on incision after breast lift. Will this heal OK without the wound opening up?
By Dr Alex Kim
Jan 15, 2019
Under the vertical incision is your skin from lower part of the breast. Even if the wound separates, under the incision is the dermis. So, the wound will heal without problems. Sometimes it may leave a little wider scar, but the scar can be revised at a later date.
Hardness from BBL since July 2018. Can this be fixed?
By Dr. Alex Kim
Jan 8, 2019
Usually if the area of the fat injection is still firm after 6 months, it may be due to the fact that the fat is dying/the fat did not survive. Typically, lumpiness will persist for a while and it will eventually dissolve as the body absorbs the fat. In rare occasions, that will leave permanent lumpiness, which may require surgical removal. At this point, make sure to keep your eye on it. Follow up with your surgeon.
Should I gain weight for BBL? I want 1600cc in each cheek but not sure if I have enough fat for it. I want
By Dr. Alex Kim
Jan 8, 2019
Looking at your photos, I don't believe that you have enough fat to achieve your goal. Gaining weight is an option but you would need to consult with an experienced plastic surgeon to discuss further.
9 weeks swelling between armpit, should I massage?
By Dr. Alex Kim
Jan 8, 2019
Swelling over the armpit is not worrisome. It will take about 6 months for the swelling to go down because the lymphatic drainage system has been disturbed. Massaging usually helps, however it depends on the type of implant you have. Make sure to find a board certified plastic surgeon near you to check your breasts.
When can double bubble be detected?
By Dr. Alex Kim
Jan 8, 2019
Double bubble can be detected as early as 3-4 months after surgery. Typically, once swelling of the breast goes down, you will start seeing indentation above of the bottom of the breast. Eventually, as the implant drops further, indentation becomes more prominent. Once established, you will need to have surgical correction. Best of luck!
Rib dislocation and breast augmentation, will one breast look bigger than the other?
By Dr. Alex Kim
Jan 8, 2019
Most likely the minor asymmetry of the shape of the ribs may not affect, but if this is in the upper breast area, it may show more afterward.  In any event, I believe the difference would be minor.
Is it normal for one breast to not drop or drop too low?
By Dr. Alex Kim
Jan 8, 2019
The right and left breast implants may not behave symmetrically after breast augmentation.  Typically, the breast implants look a little high after initial placement, and over the next 1 - 2 months, they will drop to give a natural look.  Sometimes, one or both implants to fail to follow this course - staying too high (fail to drop) or moving too low.  This type of things does not occur often but they do occur.  If fails to drop adequately, often massaging would help to further drop the imp...
Capsulorrhaphy done during initial augmentation?
Capsulorrhaphy
May 7, 2018
Based on the photos, you will need a lift, wheather vertical lift or full anchor shape incision lift. Capusulorrhaphy is a procedure to manipulate the capsule surrounding the implants.  Since you have no implants, you have no capsule to work with.  If you like to augmentation as well as lift, that could be done at the same time. Consult your surgeon. Best, Alex Kim, MD
I have a flat face after zygomatic reduction surgery in Korea. Can I get my cheekbones back?
Undoing cheek reduction
Nov 28, 2017
Based on the CT scan and photos, the surgeon performed osteotomy (cutting the bones) and placement of metallic plates to fix the bones.  Particularly over the zygoma, the bones are flat and concave.  It is potentially possible to undo the osteotomy and place the plates in previous shape, but it would be very difficult.  But I believe it can be done by removing the plates and redoing osteotomy.  More simple solution would be placement of the implants over the flat area.  If you have no func...
I had zygoma (cheekbone) reduction and now my face looks elongated and flat. Is it possible to reverse thi
Undoing cheek reduction
Nov 28, 2017
Without personally examining, it may not be completely accurate, but I believe you will need to have an implant placement to restore the previous shape.  This is typically done through intramural incision.  The type and size of the implant depends on the defect created by the previous surgery, but the use of Medpor implants allow us to shape the implant intraoperatively to customize the shape.  I would advise you to see a qualified plastic surgeon in your community.Best, Alex Kim, MD
Can I or should I use Embrace longer than the recommended 6-8 weeks after a scar revision?
Embrace
Oct 18, 2017
The use of the Embrace is typically recommended to start around 3 weeks after procedure and up to about 3 months.  The use of the product beyond this period typically not recommended because at that point, the initial wound healing process has been complete.  But if you tolerate the dressing, I do not see any harm on continuing the dressing, although it may have as much effect on the scar at that point.  Best,Alex Kim, MD
Still weeping from under left breast 4 weeks post op BR, normal?
Weeping wound
Oct 18, 2017
The weeping of the wound is due to the separation of the skin at the inverted T junction.  This is relatively common occurrence.  It may take a little more time, but the wound will close by its own with local wound care - such as antibiotic ointment.  Sometimes underlying sutures may need to be removed.  At the end, it will leave a small scar, but it tends to soften over time.  See your plastic surgeon for follow up.Best,Alex Kim, MD
