Answer Snippet
Can a Facelift and tummy tuck be done at the same time?
Combination surgeries are common
Oct 12, 2015
Thanks for your question. Doing a tummy tuck and a facelift at the same time is not unreasonable, and can sometime be done by the same surgeon, or two separate surgeons cooperating as a team. However, it can be difficult to find a surgeon who truly specializes in both procedures and coordinating two surgeons schedules can be difficult as well. While it may be convenient to have a combination surgery, the most important issues is getting the best result from each...
Do I need rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasy can be done to improve septoplasty.
Oct 12, 2015
Thanks for your question. Ideally waiting a year after surgery is best, but 6 months is okay in some cases. You don't "need" a rhinoplasty, but it would help improve your appearance and breathing if you are bothered by your nasal deviation. Addressing the external and internal nasal anatomy at the same time often allows the surgeon to achieve superior breathing and aesthetic results. The CT does show your septal deviation extending to the dorsum, so addressing the...
Upper and lower blepharoplasty red, raised bumps along suture line normal?
Suture reaction is not infection
Oct 12, 2015
Thanks for your question and photo. At 6 days is normal to have some redness around the sutures and incision. It is not extending to the local area, so does not look infected. If you are at all concerned, however, it is always good to talk to your doctor. The area should heal without difficulty, based on your photos. Best of luck.
When is the best time to do Botox - winter or summer?
BOTOX is ideally used all year round
Oct 12, 2015
Thank you for your question. If you have facial expressions that bother you and you would like to soften, treating them every 3 months year round will give you the most consistent and best result. If you would rather use it only for "special seasons", then summers are great if you want to address crowsfeet that you see when squinting in the sunshine. Winters are great if you don't want to frown during the holidays. There is nothing special about the weather...
Can Botox cause (not cure) face spasms?
BOTOX can be associated with "unusual facial movements"
Oct 12, 2015
Thank you for your question. BOTOX can take about 2 weeks to have full affect, and typically lasts 3 months. At 8 weeks you should have your full affect in force. Occasionally if you relax facial muscles, the untreated muscles around the region can appear "hyperactive" by comparison. It may also be possible that attempts to move the treated area can "recruit" adjacent muscles and appear as spasms. However, BOTOX should not induce a new neurologic disorder. If you are...
Is this a saddle nose deformity or just a nose bump? I have none of the causes associated with a sadd
Saddle-Nose Deformity is caused by injury
Oct 12, 2015
Thank you for your photos. A saddle nose deformity refers to a specific defect that is a result of injury to your septal cartilage. If your septum is in tact and you have not had an injury, then the diagnosis does not apply. This does not mean you don't have a profile that you don't like. The photos suggest that you have a dorsal hump that could be addressed with a rhinoplasty if you don't like the appearance. Visiting a surgeon for imaging and consultation...
Brow Lift + Scar Revision: Coronal or Endoscopic?
Scar revision after browlift
Sep 14, 2015
Thank you for you question. It would be helpful to see your photos, but based on your description I would lean towards revising the coronal lift at the same time as the scar revision. An endoscopic lift would be a little more challenging now that you have had a surgery within that last 12 months, and the benefits of not having a large incision are lost. I would rely heavily on the advice of your surgeon, as he/she knows your anatomy and may be able to fine tune your...
Bleeding 7 weeks After Rhinoplasty
Bleeding after rhinoplasty
Sep 9, 2015
Thank you for your question. It is typical to have some bleeding from any surgery during the healing phase. At 7 weeks it is a little less common, but can happen if there is an exposed vessel or area in your nose that is slow to heal. I would not be overly concerned, but it is worth seeing your surgeon for an exam. He may be able to treat an area in your nose that will stop the bleeding. Best of luck.
Will IPL remove a single red dot on my cheek I have had since early childhood? It's not raised. (Phot
IPL can help with red stops
Sep 9, 2015
Thank you for your question and photo. IPL can do a great job at shrinking and maybe even eliminating red pigmented lesions. It may take more than one session, and even some "touch up" treatments over time. If the IPL does not work, you can also try a KTP laser that is specific for red lesions. I would suggest consulting with a physician who has multiple lasers and specializes in laser treatments for your best results. A spa IPL treatment might help, but having...
I'm 9 weeks post revision rhino and it looks exactly the same as before. It doesn't even feel like sw
Tip swelling after revision surgery takes time
Sep 9, 2015
Thank you for your question and photos. Tip swelling after a primary rhinoplasty can take up to a year to resolve. Swelling after revision surgery can take even longer to fully resolve. At 9 weeks it seems normal to not notice a difference. Sometimes massaging and steroid injections can speed the process, but in the end it just takes time to reach your goal. I would suggest regular follow-up with your surgeon and be patient. Best of luck.
Can this downward heavy feeling between my eyebrows be corrected by more Botox, or some Restylane? Or
Heavy brows after Xeomin
Jul 1, 2015
Thank you for your question. At 9 days your Xeomin should be in full force and you should love your result. It is possible, if this is the first time you have had your forehead treated, that it may take time to "get used to the feeling". However, if your brows are too low you may be able to get some lift by treating the orbicularis muscle under the eyebrows and get a little lift (or at least less depression). In any event, if you are not thrilled with the treatment it...
4 weeks post op, can kissing after Rhinoplasty ruin the results?
Activities after rhinoplasty
Jul 1, 2015
Thank you for your question. After a month, the result from a rhinoplasty has "fused" somewhat and it takes significant trauma to change the result. It is unlikely that kissing caused a permanent deformity, but if it looks to have shifted you should call your surgeon and be seen. Often if something shifts with trauma, it can be shifted back with gentle manipulation by your surgeon. In general, avoid pressure on your nose for at least 6 weeks. Best of luck.
Can this ear be fixed to look more normal?
Boxer's ear
Jul 1, 2015
Thank you for your question and photos. You do have a challenging ear. Your "normal" anatomy seems to be there, just with thickened scar tissue around the cartilage. This can sometimes be improved with steroid injections and 5FU injections - and potentially surgery to thin down the scar tissue. Even with all these maneuvers, the ear may still be a little distorted. It is also not a classic deformity, so seeking out a surgeon who deals with a lot of boxers and...
I have crooked nose after Rhinoplasty. What is the pain and cost of a revision? Is it worth it?
Revision rhinoplasty
Jul 1, 2015
