Can a septum redeviate due to cartilage memory and can this be alleviated by using a flat piece of car
I agree with your idea

Hello and thank you for your question. The
best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Making plans for rhinoplasty depends not only on the outside of the nose but also the inside of the nose and the feel of the nose (skin thickness and cartilage strength). Based on
your description, I agree with you, you could definitely benefit from a straight piece of rib cartilage, especially for a revision rhinoplasty. These decisions should
be based on a detailed discussion with ...
Skin care after rhinoplasty?
Skin care after rhinoplasty
Jun 7, 2018
Hello and thank you for your question. My best advice is to discuss this with your surgeon. There is some variation in recommendations amongst surgeons after rhinoplasty and some of it depends on the specifics of the procedure. In general, after rhinoplasty, patients wear a nasal splint for 1 week. Once the splint is removed, the face and nose can be gently washed with a gentle face wash. At 7-10 days, you can return to using your normal facial products with care to not rub the nose...
How Painful is an Endoscopic Brow Lift?
If you did well with a facelift, you should do well with a brow lift.
Jun 7, 2018
Brow lift recovery somewhat depends on the type of brow lift you are getting. Most brow lifts are done with sutures or metal clips in or behind the hairline that are removed at 1 week. By 1 week, you are feeling better and looking better but you may have swelling to some (small) degree for months after the procedure. I routinely offer prescription pain medication for patients after a brow lift but that is usually only needed for a few days and then patients switch to Tylenol. Pat...
What is an Endoscopic Brow Lift?
Endoscopic brow lift is one of many types of brow lifts
Jun 7, 2018
An endoscopic brow lift is one of many types of brow lift. Brow lifts are generally classified by the approach including coronal, temporal/lateral, endoscopic, direct, mid-forehead, and pre/trichial. Which approach is chosen depends on hairline and anatomy. A coronal lift or any approach behind the hairline will raise the hairline. An incision right at the hairline or in front of the hairline (pre/trichial) will not raise the hairline. The endoscopic approach includes 4 incisions (...

Options for rhinoplasty
Jun 7, 2018
Hello and thank you for your question. Rhinoplasty pricing depends on many factors such as your location, technique, cosmetic vs insurance, and experience of the surgeon. Some areas of the country will be more expensive than others. If a surgeon recommends more techniques or procedures, the surgery will cost more. In terms of options for rhinoplasty, the
best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Making plans for rhinoplasty depends not only on the outside of the n...
12 days post op, dark bruise appeared on the side of my nose. Is there something wrong?
Nose looks like it is healing well
Jun 6, 2018
Healing after a rhinoplasty can be very variable. Early asymmetries or marks can be frustrating and concerning. However, the healing process after a rhinoplasty is approximately 12 months. The nose can fluctuate quite a bit during that time. The area in the picture looks like a normal bruise. This can be delayed bruising or a small blood collection. I can't see anything concerning from the photos. Most bruising after a rhinoplasty does present earlier so I would keep an eye on this a...

The nose may do this after rhinoplasty
Jun 6, 2018
Healing after a rhinoplasty can be very variable. Early asymmetries can be frustrating and concerning. However, the healing process after a rhinoplasty is approximately 12 months. At 5 months, the nose is stabilizing but can still fluctuate. Some irregularities and changes in the tip are normal. Patience is key after rhinoplasty. I would keep open communication with your surgeon's office and continue to follow any recommendations from her/him.

What to do with sutures in the nose after rhinoplasty
Jun 5, 2018
Overall, the nose looks like it is healing well from the photos. Most surgeons use a combination of dissolvable and permanent sutures for an external/open rhinoplasty. Since it has been 5 weeks since surgery, these are most likely a form of permanent suture, but sutures can vary surgeon to surgeon, especially if you had the surgery outside of the US. It is unfortunate that you cannot follow up with your surgeon. It would be ideal if you could see a rhinoplasty surgeon in your area to ...

Difficulty breathing through the nose after rhinoplasty - normal?
Jun 5, 2018
Two weeks after septorhinoplasty, it is very common and expected to have difficulty breathing through the nose. As the nose goes through the healing process, there are usually periods of swelling fluctuations. For a few days after the splint comes off the top of the nose and the splints come out of the inside of the nose, the nose can have rebound swelling. Swelling in the nose, to a certain degree, can last for several months. I would keep open communication with your surgeon's off...

Can a bump upwards on nose tip dislodge the tip/cartilage after 2 months post-op?
You don't want this to happen after rhinoplasty
Jun 5, 2018
Rhinoplasty healing is not final until approximately 12 months after surgery. I recommend that patients avoid contact sports for at least 6 weeks after surgery. The nasal bones and cartilages have gone through the early healing phases by 4-5 weeks and are more resilient to small bumps. However, a significant strike to the nose can re-break the nasal bones or damage the tip cartilages even as far out as 2 months. In the whole healing process, 2 months is still fairly early.
Neck lift lower facelift: Is tightness normal 4 days post-op?
Should your neck feel tight 4 days after a facelift?
May 30, 2018
Recovery after facelift is dependent on many factors including the extent of the facelift, type of facelift, level of anesthesia, and ease of bruising/swelling. More extensive surgery means more swelling, sensitivity, and bruising. At 4 days after a facelift/necklift, you are hitting your peak amount of swelling. I would 100% expect you to have some tightness at this point. If you have swelling that is fluid-like, like a water balloon - that is not normal and you should contact your surge...
3 months post facelift - any further options to remove remaining fat pockets near mouth?
2 options for heavy marionette folds and fat pockets
May 30, 2018
This is a difficult area to treat in an isolated way. Overall, I think you have a very nice result. I agree that adding fillers here will only make the lower part of your face/mouth look heavy. I would wait to do any additional procedure until at least the 6-9 month mark after surgery. In general, I do not recommend any revision procedures until the 12 month mark after surgery. You may still have some swelling. You can consider perioral (around the mouth) liposuction which invol...
Is it too soon for the Tretinoin cream? 7 wks after facelift and CO2 resurfacing.
Tretinoin cream after a facelift
May 30, 2018
My best recommendation is to contact your surgeon for his/her post-operative instructions. It is important to follow all instructions after surgery as closely as possible to optimize the results. There is some variation amongst surgeons on this issue. I recommend that my patients wait at least 6 weeks after surgery to restart tretinoin cream. Tretinoin is an exfoliant and stimulator so the skin has to be completely healed before re-starting the cream. To be sure that your skin is read...
