What procedure should I follow in your opinion for a rhinoplasty? In between two doctors with di
Rhinoplasty
Apr 12, 2015
Often when encountering differing opinions regarding the correct surgical plan, I suggest that a patient decides using several pieces of data. 1. Compare the two opposing surgeons' postop photos in order to determine what results they generally achieve-specifically looking at noses that are similar to yours. 2. Did the surgeons provide digital imaging? If so, this often reveals what ultimate result the surgeon is trying to achieve especially when the patient does not provide any...
Do I need revision otoplasty?
Revision Otoplasty
Apr 12, 2015
Certainly three weeks postop is awfully early to judge the ultimates result of your otoplasty procedure. They will likely improve in position and contour over the ensuing months. The hardest part of the procedure for the patient is always the waiting for the healing phase to complete. Try and remain patient and the overall result should improve. Good Luck.
Is the healing time for a closed Rhinoplasty the same as an open Rhinoplasty?
Open vs. Closed Rhinoplasty healing time
Jul 18, 2014
I usually say healing for open rhinoplasty is only about 2 days more than a closed rhinoplasty due to the stitches. As for long term healing, they are the same.Good luck with your surgery!Warm regards,Dr. Moynihan
How much would cost for making my nose smaller?
Rhinoplasty pricing
Jun 30, 2014
Rhinoplasty pricing can vary from surgeon to surgeon. Pricing is based on location, experience and accreditations/board certifications. My advise would be to consult with 1-3 board certified facial plastic surgeons in your area.
What dangers could occur if a patient regularly consumed caffeine (a blood thinner) 2 weeks prio
Pre-op coffee
Jun 30, 2014
There aren't any real "dangers" with regular coffee consumption prior to surgery. Although, caffeine is a mild stimulant, it should affect the outcome of your surgery. This question, along with any others, should be directed to your surgeon or the office medical staff.
I have no dorsal hump, am I a candidate for Rhinoplasty?
No hump, no problem
Jun 17, 2014
Although, sometimes the most common condition, you do not need to have a dorsal hump to be a candidate for rhinoplasty. Many patients have rhinoplasty to decrease the width of their nose, amongst other conditions. I would recommend consulting with a facial plastic surgeon that offers computer imaging so you can visualize your results of a more narrow bridge.
Will the Summer be enough time to heal from rhinoplasty?
Summer Rhinoplasty, healing
May 27, 2014
Many of my patients have the same time frame and questions that you have and I can confidently say 8 weeks after a primary rhinoplasty, your nose should be "better" than your pre-op nose. Every patient heals differently, but each week gets better and better and ultimately gets you closer to your final result. Good luck!George T. Moynihan, M.D.
I finished chemo 19 months ago for breast cancer. I had six rounds of 100 FEC. Can I get botox o
Injectables after chemo
May 22, 2014
First, congratulations with being done with chemo! Second, I have many patients under similar circumstances and I find that Botox and Fillers really help boost these patients self esteem when its needed most. Lastly, I would suggest speaking to your oncologist and get the 'ok' before proceeding with treatment.Good luck!George T. Moynihan, M.D.
Do I need nostril reduction? What is the cost?
Do I need nostril reduction? What is the cost?
May 22, 2014
You seem to be a candidate for nostril/weir reduction. Price can vary from surgeon to surgeon, however this procedure can be done under local anesthetic which can greatly reduce cost.I hope this helps!Dr. George T. Moynihan
Day 3 after Otoplasty - Earlobes Very Swollen and Protruding a lot (dumbo ears)
otoplasty- post-op
May 1, 2014
It's very normal for the ears to be swollen, slightly protruded and numb after Otoplasty. This can last several weeks, sometimes longer. Until then, try and be patient as they heal and address your concerns with your surgeon.
Best Rhinoplasty Surgeons in Chicago?
Chicagoland Rhinoplasty
Apr 30, 2014
Fortunately, the Chicagoland area has great options for you. It's important you choose a surgeon that specializes in Rhinoplasty. Most likely, they will be a board certified facial plastic surgeon and are very experienced with the nose and face. Plenty of pre and post-op photos should be available for you to view and computer imaging is also extremely helpful for patients to communicate their concerns and desires.
Am I a candidate for tip plasty?
Revision Rhinoplasty
Apr 23, 2014
Thank you for your photos. It is certainly possible to revise your nasal tip and make it more refined and much less 'droopy' (ptotic tip). You should consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon with a lot of experience in revision rhinoplasty surgery.Good Luck.George T. Moynihan
Do I have a droopy tip and/or hanging columella? Can these be corrected after primary rhinoplast
Revision Rhinoplasty-hanging columella
Apr 23, 2014
Thank you for the photos. From the photos, it appears your nasal tip cartilage has been narrowed by moving them towards the center of the nose which often causes downward movement of the tip of the nose. This can definitely be corrected by elevating the tip with wither the lateral crural overlay technique or lateral crural transposition. You consult with a plastic surgeon that has has significant experience with revision rhinoplasty surgery. Best of LuckGeorge T....
Are Asymmetrical Nostrils After Rhinoplasty Normal?
Nostril asymmetry
Feb 28, 2014
Nostril asymmetry following rhinoplasty surgery is often exaggerated by swelling. Once a significant amount of the swelling has resolved (6-12 weeks), the asymmetry can be be evaluated. If still aesthetically upsetting there are procedures that can improve the asymmetry. You should consult with your surgeon to discuss possible solutions. Best of Luck.
I want to know if the size of nostrils will get better and smaller or not during healing? (photo
Nostril Size
Feb 28, 2014
While it is true that the nose continues to reduce in size after surgery, this is most often seen in the nasal tip skin. The skin which makes up the nostril (alar lobule) especially in the ethnic nose is often much thicker than the tip skin hence the reduction in the width of nose does not change much after three months. Additional width can be reduced in the future if you have not achieved your desired results. Good luck.
