Answer Snippet
Is there any procedure for treating the pores on face?
Microneedling and Retinoids
Jan 9, 2022
Your photos appear to be more scarring than actually enlarged pores. Microneedling can often work extraordinarily well. Usually, 3-5 treatments one month apart will greatly improve your skin texture. Of course, topical treatment can be useful as adjuvant therapy. Tretinoin, if tolerated, can help you heal more quickly from these treatments as well as help by itself. SPF daily is important as well.
Hyperpigmentation concern for ethnic skin. What could I do to improve this?
Cyspera
Jan 9, 2022
Cyspera is a new product that works on pigmentation without causing a halo effect like many bleaching creams do. This product contains cysteamine. This is a very potent antioxidant. Through short contact, (i.e. 15 minutes daily) it decreases pigmentation in usually 12 weeks.
Acne and scarring - what would help my skin?
First Treat Active Acne
Jan 9, 2022
First, you need to be seen medically to stop breakouts. Then you can address the residual pigmentation, redness and scarring. Often times, retinoids like Tretinoin or Retin-A will help not only with the breakouts but also textural and pigmentation issues. In general, it takes 12 weeks to see the benefit of a retinoid. If you do not stop the breakouts before treating the scarring, often times more redness and textural changes occur, so you end up causing more damage. After being medically...
What are the best treatments for keratosis pilaris on my upper arms?
Keratosis pilaris is very common
Nov 30, 2021
Keratosis pilaris usually presents a firm keratotic papules of the upper arms, legs and sometimes is quite extensive. It is really more of a genetic variant so we can learn what works to control it for you, but not cure it. It has a tendency to be most pronounced in the second decade of life, with weight gain or in the winter time with clothing rubbing on the area. Often times, this condition can be improved with topical creams. I often recommend Amlactin lotion or Cerave SA cream to smooth...
I have small stretch marks all along the backs of my thighs that are not very deep. What can be done?
Stretch marks are difficult to treat!
Nov 29, 2021
The best you can expect is improvement. In my office, we would treat these flesh colored stretch with either a series of microneedling (1 treatment per month for 3-5 treatments) or microneedling with radiofrequency (Morpheus8). Improvement will likely be seen best at three months after the last procedure. Often, stretch marks are pink and we will sometimes use IPL to help with pink marks.
Steroid for pimple shot?
It Should Not Be Absorbed Systemically
Oct 25, 2021
Steroid injections for inflammatory acne pimples can help these lesions resolve quickly. The dose of steroids injected is extraordinarily small so even if absorption were to occur, it would not produce any systemic effects. If a higher dose is used, sometimes a depression can be left at the site of the injection. With time, this can resolve on its own. However, for faster results, a filler can be used to fill the depression.
Does anything get rid of old white stretch marks?
Not Yet However the Appearance can be Improved
Oct 25, 2021
Morpheus8 is microneedling combined with radiofrequency and it can help to improve the appearance of stretch marks significantly. Yours do not have any color to them, but if there is color, we will sometimes use Lumecca which is an IPL that can reduce the redness associated with some. Usually a series of 3-5 treatments is needed scheduled one month apart and final results are seen at about three months.
