Rhinoplasty and breast augmentation are usually performed at the same time
Both of these procedures take about 1-11/2 hours, so the time should not be a factor. You save money and have only one recovery period.
If your doctor only does noses, he can do what we do which is bring in a specialist to do the breast surgery at the same time. (Toby Mayer, MD, Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon)
t is safe to have rhinoplasty and breast surgery at the same time
The real determining factor on having simultaneous cosmetic procedures is the length of time of the combined procedures and the amount of exposed tissue.
If surgery is less than 6 to 7 hours then there is little medical risk of having both procedures performed at the same time. The most common procedure to increase medical risk when performed in conjunction with other procedures is abdominoplasty.
What you should do though is make sure your doctor excels in both procedures. A great nose surgeon may not be so good in breast surgery and vice versa. (Steven J. Pearlman, MD, New York Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty and Breast Augmentation
The only potential problem that I would caution about is the possibility of bacterial contamination. I do not know of any studies that might show bacteria in the blood stream during a rhinoplasty but that is a possibility.
IF there are bacteria in the bloodstream and implants are also put in there may be a slight increase in the risk of infection for the breast augmentation. That being said, realize that implants and grafts are used sometimes with rhinoplasty also. (John P. Stratis, MD, Harrisburg Plastic Surgeon)
Safety of Combination Rhinoplasty and Breast Augmentation
Aside from the implications of your personal medical history (IE heart disease, smoking, family history of either prolonged bleeding or or blood clots, taking birth control pills etc), the risks of surgery are directly related to the duration of the operations. In a healthy young woman whose legs are treated through the surgery with intermittent leg pump boots to reduce clot formation, if the operation is less than 7 hours, such risks are low. (Peter A. Aldea, MD, Memphis Plastic Surgeon)
Combination rhinoplasty and augmentation mammaplasty
Generally speaking it is relatively safe to have both procedures performed simultaneously if these can be completed within a reasonable amount of time (less than 6 hours). (Otto Joseph Placik, MD, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)
It is safe to have rhinoplasty and breast augmentation at the same time
The combination of rhinoplasty and breast augmentation is safe. To reduce the risk of infection, the breast augmentation should be done first.
If the rhinoplasty is done first, all new instruments and supplies should be used for the breast portion of the operation.
Additionally, your surgeon will probably give you antibiotics to further reduce the risk of infection. (Michael D. Yates, MD, Huntsville Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty and breast augmentation
It is certainly reasonable to perform a rhinoplasty along with a breast reduction. I do the two all the ime together.
I prefer to do the “clean” operation first and therefore do the breast augmentation followed by the rhinoplasty. (Steven Wallach, MD, Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty and Breast Augmentation can be done together
It is safe to do Rhinoplasty and Breast Augmentation procedures together. The surgery time should be kept less than 4 hrs that in usual cases, it is possible. You can save recovery time, down time and expenses significantly. (M. Ryan Khosravi, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
No specific problems with combining Rhinoplasty and Breast Augmentation
The combination of breast augmentation and rhinoplasty is common. The best would be to do the augmentation first and rhinoplasty second. The augmentation is considered more sterile compare to the rhinoplasty. Make sure your surgeon is comfortable with doing these at the same time. (Kamran Khoobehi, MD, New Orleans Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty with concurrent breast augmentation
If you are in good health, there should be no problem with having both a rhinoplasty and a breast augmentation performed at the same surgical setting. (Scott E. Kasden, MD, Dallas Plastic Surgeon)
Breast augmentation and rhinoplasty can be done together.
In New York City, we have done breast augmentation and rhinoplasty together a number of times without any complication. We do the breast augmentation first, and then the nose surgery right after. You certainly don’t need two surgeons. (George J. Beraka, MD (retired), Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)
It would be best for you to have your simultaneous Rhinoplasty and Breast Aug. performed by 2 surgeons.
I just returned from a wonderful Plastic Surgery conference on MACS-Lifting in Belgium. The two plastic surgeons giving the course would perform both procedures at the same time, minimizing your anesthesia time and cost. The doctors that described this simultaneous approach to Rhinoplasty and Breast Augmentation are Drs. Tonnard and Verpaele in Gent, Belgium. These are two top-notch surgeons that I would recommend without hesitation for both procedures.
Pricing is competitive to US, and your stay in Gent, Belgium would be exceptional. Here’s there web-site for more information. (Eric M. Joseph, MD, West Orange Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Safety of combined rhinoplasty and breast augmentation
As the other doctors have mentioned as long as the procedure would be completed within 6-7 hours it should be safe to perform. As far as infection risk your doctor should perform the breast augmentation first and the rhinoplasty second. He should also administer antibiotics during the operation that will prevent infection through the bloodstream. These pricipals will allow both procedures to be performed safely. (Robert B. Pollack, MD, La Jolla Plastic Surgeon)
Rhinoplasty and Breast Augmentation can be done at the same time
As you can see there is a vast differences of opinions on this subject. For me, YES, I have done both at one operation. It usually takes me 4 hours total time in operating room. I do the implants first, since that is considered a clean operation. Then after prepping and draping, I do the rhinoplasty. The main issue is finding an excellent boarded plastic surgeon willing to preform both operations.
Years ago, I two teamed cases with a ENT cosmetic surgeon who had patients he was going to do rhinoplasties on and they desired breast implants. This was an ideal situation for me, a young plastic surgeon. Today, it is the rarity but I have done combination cases with ENT’s. For example, Smart Lipo + septo/rhinoplasty. (Darryl J. Blinski, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
